The term “ventilating a building” refers to the process of replacing stale or dirty air in a space with clean and fresh air. The ventilation system is a must-have for companies and is required for a variety of applications since it allows unwanted air to escape while allowing fresh air to enter.
The fan type, as well as the air volume flow rate, are important factors to consider when selecting the proper industrial exhaust fan (CFM). Aside from the model and flow rate, you should also consider the fan’s resistance to airflow (such as static pressure or SP) and sound.
When selecting the proper exhaust fan for your Malaysian industrial firm, four factors must be considered.
- Exhaust fans’ primary duty is to move heated air from one area to another. However, there is now such a wide range of fan uses that manufacturers may create a wide range of exhaust fan types. Each fan type has its own set of advantages for certain applications and provides the most cost-effective and efficient way of executing the air movement function.
- Select between direct drive and belt drive. For low volume and low static pressure, the former is more cost effective. Direct Drive fans need low maintenance and, in most cases, may be utilised with speed control to modify CFM. Belt drive fans are better suited for air volumes more than 2,000 CFM or static pressures greater than 0.50.
- Select between a propeller and a centrifugal fan. The former is a cost-effective way to move huge amounts of air (5,000+ CFM) at low static pressures (0.50” or less). Because propellers are positioned in the air stream, applications are limited to comparatively pure air at maximum temperatures of 40oC. Centrifugal fans are more efficient, have greater static pressures, and are quieter than propeller fans. They are built with motors that can be positioned outside of the air stream and can evacuate polluted and hot air.
- Fan types are generally intended to be installed in one of three locations: a wall, a roof, or a duct. The components of the fan do not vary regardless of location. Only the housing has been modified to make installation as simple as possible. The optimal position for the exhaust fan is determined by the desired airflow pattern as well as the physical parameters of the structure.
